When you’re in the market to sell your home, it’s important to know different tips on how to brighten up your home and make it more inviting to your potential buyers. It is often said that the color of your rooms reflect on what kind of person one is. If you’re home is feeling a little dull and drab, here are a few tips on making it brighter and lighter!
Lighting Tip and Tricks
Open your shades! Many homeowners are often nervous about exposing their lives to the outside world but with a little bravery, nothing does better to lighten your home than opening those blinds. Use natural light as much and often as possible, try not to rely on artificial lighting. The sun should serve as the majority of your indoor lighting. If you do use artificial lighting, try not to use a florescent base lighting. Although very bright, it has a duller glow that is piercing and doesn’t have a calmer glow as other lights. At night time, try to use lamps instead of overhead lights which provide a warm glow instead of an overpowering glare.
Try bringing the outdoors indoors! Add a wall-mounted water fountain to your home. These can often come in a stainless steel or copper finish which is more of a reflective material that can open up your rooms.
Bring out those giant mirrors! Mirrors have one of the largest influences of light in just about any room. They will also reflect light and make a fantastic backdrop for lit candles.
If you don’t have one, consider installing a freestanding electric fireplace. They can be easily moved from room to room and offer a warm and inviting heat and light. The mantel also serves as a prime location for candles and other tasteful decorations.
When you paint your walls, go for a lighter color. White is fine but can often be a little too transparent. Perhaps try an off-white, lighter blue, or any other cheery color.
Be wary of any furniture with loud patterns. Try to favor dots or just a simple patchwork. These have a lighter feel compared to loud patterns that are a bit too busy.
Keep your furniture arrangement simple and easy. Try to keep everything spread out and symmetric.
With some simple adjustments, you can turn a darker home into something lighter and welcoming. You’d be surprised just how much of a change it can make, give it a go today!
